CAFA Scholarship Announcement
Chinese American Faculty Association (CAFA), a non-profit professional
organization, is awarding several scholarships (up to $1,000 each) to
undergraduate students to provide encouragement in their studies and
assistance with their financial needs.
Undergraduate students who are interested in Chinese culture and meeting
following qualifications are invited to apply for the scholarships:
- an undergraduate currently enrolled in an accredited institute of
higher learning in Southern California,
should have completed at
least 36 quarter units or 25 semester units at the present institution,
- with graduation date scheduled after June 2008 , and
- carrying at least 12 quarter units or 8 semester units load with a
GPA of 3.5 or higher.
The selection criteria are based on:
- academic record,
- personal statement,
- extra-curriculum activities involvement in Chinese culture or community, and
- financial needs.
Your complete application packet will include the following:
- an original and 3 photo copies of the application ,
- an original and 3 photo copies of the personal statement,
- transcripts from college/university (one copy), and
- one letter of reference from an individual who can evaluate your
academic and/or work performance (you do not need to have photo copies
of this letter, just original letter in a sealed envelope).
Completed application packets must be postmarked no later than
February 8, 2008 . You will receive a notification by February 25, 2008
if you are a recipient. Awardees must appear in person at the banquest of the annual
CAFA convention at the Monterey Hill Restaurant (Tel: 323-264-8400), 3700 W. Ramona Blvd. in Monterey Park to receive the scholarship
awards. The award banquet will be on Saturday, March 1, 2008
Your dinner will be provided by CAFA. You may invite friends
or relatives to the banquet, however, they will have to pay for their
own dinners.
