Gene Bickers is presently an Associate Professor of Physics at the University of Southern California. His research area is condensed matter theory. His current research involves the quantum mechanics of electrons in exotic solids, including heavy electron metals and high-temperature superconductors. This research field is important for the understanding and development of new technological materials. He holds a B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Virginia and an M.S. and Ph.D. in physics from Cornell University. He and his wife Alice have lived in California for the last eleven years. He has one daughter, Cara, age 7.
