H.4 - SPECIFIC HEAT

Five balls of the same size but made of different materials are held by strands to a metal ring with a wooden handle. The balls are all heated in boiling water. A 1/2 cm thick sheet of paraffin is provided. It is set in a ring stand. Take the gadget by the handle, removing the five balls simultaneously out of the boiling water and placing them on the paraffin sheet. The amount of paraffin melted under each ball varies inversely with the specific heat of each metal. The balls are made of: copper, aluminum, brass, steel, and lead.
